Baldwin Park

Baldwin Park

This is a fairly large community park with sports venues and other facilities for recreation. The historic Lake County Courthouse is adjacent, and a number of trees are planted there in honor of various people.

Picnicking-
There is a small pavillion with picnic tables nearby on the east end of the park. Shaded picnic tables on the north side and one by the basketball courts. No grills

Playground-
small modular playground with swings, spiral slides, toddler slides, various climbers, wood chip surface. There is one bench for adult seating.

Baseball diamonds, soccer fields, cement basketball courts, tennis courts

Scenic Views-
The front of the courthouse coming from the south is very impressive and it is one of the most recognized county courthouses in West Michigan.

Historic Site-
Lake County - "This county was originally set off in 1840 and first named Aishcum after a well-known Potawatomi chief. In 1843 the name was changed to Lake. For three decades it was attached to neighboring counties until 1871 when settlement was sufficient to warrant organization. Baldwin, the county seat, was settled in 1872. The county's forests helped make Michigan a leading lumbering state. Farming and the tourist industry are the chief activities. Wildlife is abundant." Michigan Historic Site
Linda L. Bair - "In memory of Linda L. Bair, Lake County Commissioner, 5 1/2 years"
Robert O Bair - "In memory of Robert O. Bair, Lake County Commissioner January 1993 to June 1997"
Eljean Dutmer-Vande Bunte - "In memory of Eljean Dutmer-Vande Bunte, Dedicated Employee of Lake County 7/16/1986 - 11/2/2001. A Forward Thinker And Very Instrumental In Bringing G.P.S. Mapping to Lake County"
