Reed Lake

This 45 acre deep lake located southwest of Baldwin connects to Rainbow Lake, and is closely associated with a chain of small lakes, but is the only one with public access.


Boat Launch- Dirt ramp with limited parking

Fishing-
Bass

Swimming- small dirt beach beside the boat ramp, but the water is warm and is reported to be clean enough for enjoyable swimming. In fact there were kids swimming there in mid-May.

Rest Rooms- latrine
Potable Water- none

Handicap Accessibility- latrine has 1" lip, door is narrow and approach is over dirt

Access- From Evergreen Road via dirt roads
Restrictions- no camping, Recreation Passport required
Seasonality- road may not be plowed in winter
Ecosystem- small inland lake surrounded by cottages on sandy wooded hills

From Ludington/Scottville, go east on US 10 to Walhalla and turn south at the blinker. Take a left at Kinney (following the main route) and this becomes 56th St. About 8 miles to the corner of Evergreen. Turn south (right) on Evergreen 1.8 miles to Hayes. Turn right on Hayes (dirt) and in 0.3 miles turn right on Gulch. Reach the lake in 0.2 miles.

Or from Baldwin, turn west on 7th St, go 5 blocks to the end and turn left. In one block make a right on Carr Road which becomes 52nd St. The road will jog south and become 56th St. 4.5 miles from MI-37 in Baldwin you will reach Bowman Bridge where it crosses the Pere Marquette River. Go another 2.5 miles and turn south on Evergreen. Go 1.8 miles to Hayes. Turn right on Hayes (dirt) and in 0.3 miles turn right on Gulch. Reach the lake in 0.2 miles.
