General Information

Bass Lake

Bass Lake is a small inland lake (524 acres) which is popular for fishing, sailing, canoeing and kayaking. Although there are many private homes and cottages around the lake there are two public access points.

On windy days the lake can get quite rough and it is difficult to manage a small boat.

Boat Launch

Marrison Road Public Access-
Access- At the west end of Marrison Rd is a public access point with a dirt ramp.

Restrictions- private property on each side of the road, no camping, open 7 am- 10 pm
Ecosystem- inland lake mostly surrounded by private properties

Bass Lake Boulevard Public Access-
Access- From Bass Lake Boulevard you can put a boat in the water at a paved ramp. However there is private property marked with yellow tape closely on each side of the public space and there is really no place to park.
Restrictions- no camping, no parking, open 6 am - 10 pm, very narrow access bordered by private property
Ecosystem- inland lake mostly surrounded by private properties

Details

Access- paved roads, one on the east and one on the west side of the lake
Restrictions- mostly private property around the lake, use public access only
Seasonality- lake freezes in winter
Ecosystem- medium-size inland lake with access for canoes and kayaks to Lake Michigan by portage over a small dam.
Other points of interest- village of Pentwater is just southwest of the lake; services and shopping

Driving Directions

Marrison Rd is one mile north of Pentwater Business 31 on Pere Marquette Highway (Old US 31). Turn west and proceed less than 1/2 mile to where it dead ends at the lake. There is plenty of room to turn around and park.

Bass Lake Boulevard is north from the north end of Pentwater's Business US 31 on Lakeshore Drive (across from the Wishing Well store) for about 2 miles and take a right on Bass Lake Blvd. Or turn west off Pere Marquette Highway on Lattin Rd for about 1.5 miles, and turn left on Bass Lake Blvd. The access is near the north end of the Blvd.
