and do the Ludington Volksmarch
General Information
Ludington Volksmarch
A volksmarch is a non-competitive 6 mile (10 kilometer) walk. It's not a pledge walk, it's not a race, it is a fun activity you do with a club, with your family, with your pet, or all by yourself. The route through Ludington mostly follows city streets, but you can earn a patch by doing this walk.
Hiking
Ludington Volksmarch
The description begins at the Ludington House of Flavors restaurant at the corner of Ludington Avenue and Lewis St. To get credit for your walk at an award patch you must go in to House of Flavors and register your walk. There are a couple of questions to find the answers to while you hike.
Except for the waterfront, this is not a particularly scenic walk. It follows city sidewalks and circles the main area of the city of Ludington. But you can earn a patch for walking this. Take a friend, and make it a social event rather than a scenic getaway.
Head west from House of Flavors on Ludington Ave. Go one block and turn right on Gaylord Ave to Fitch St. Right on Fitch to James. Left on James to Tinkham. Left on Tinkham to Park. Left on Park to Fitch. Right on Fitch to Lakeshore Drive, cross and enter Stearns Park- follow the sidewalk or the beach. Walk past the playground, cross Ludington Ave and continue past the Fish Cleaning Station. Join the Waterfront Walkway Loop along the channel to Ferry St. Take Ferry north to Loomis. Right on Loomis to William. Right on William to Filer into the city Marina. Return to Williams and to Loomis. Right on Loomis to James. Left on James to Ludington Ave. Right on Ludington Ave to Washington. Left on Washington to Tinkham. Left on Tinkham to Delia. Left on Delia to Haight. Right on Haight to Lewis. Left on Lewis and return to House of Flavors.
